gence test, are used in this study. Our problem is very well expressed in the question: Does the child of high intelligence possess physical development commensurate with his mental ability? The subjects used in this study were pupils from the Demonstration School of the George Peabody College for Teachers. Since the study was restricted to children of superior intelligence, the number was necessarily limited to forty-five. School grades four to eight, inclusive, were included in the study as follows: Thirteen from the eighth grade, eleven from the seventh, five from the sixth, ten from the fifth, and six from the fourth. The data resulting from the tests were handled separately for each grade. For convenience the children were given numbers from one to forty-five and ranked according to I. Q. within the several grades. Seventeen boys and twenty-eight girls were used in the study. The Stanford Revision of the Binet-Simon test was used as a

The Training of Very Bright Children 1A discussion prepared for the Educational Congress held under the direction of the Department of Public Instruction of the State of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, November 17-22.
What children are very bright? Our own, of course, but how to discover the "very bright" children of other people? To be very definite, what percentage of six-year-old children, in the first grade of the public schools of this country, may we expect to be properly classified among the "very bright?" Before I can answer this question, we must arrive at a satisfactory definition of the "very brig...
متن کاملSensitivity of the circadian system to evening bright light in preschool‐age children
Although the light-induced melatonin suppression response is well characterized in adults, studies examining the dynamics of this effect in children are scarce. The purpose of this study was to quantify the magnitude of evening light-induced melatonin suppression in preschool-age children. Healthy children (n = 10; 7 females; 4.3 ± 1.1 years) participated in a 7-day protocol. On days 1-5, child...
متن کاملVerbal fluency and figural fluency in bright children.
Intellectually bright children in Grades 2, 4, and 6 from one school and adults were assessed on measures of verbal and on a new measure of figural fluency. Consistent with previous research, age-dependent performance was observed on both fluency tasks. Analysis of covariance with motor speed as the covariate reduced the F ratio for the figural task, although age-related significant differences...
متن کاملMR of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis in Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
PURPOSE To describe the MR findings in the hypothalamic pituitary area in children with Langerhans cell histiocytosis and to define those MR alterations especially associated with the risk of developing diabetes insipidus. METHODS The hypothalamic-neurohypophyseal axis was studied by sagittal and coronal 1.5 T1-weighted MR imaging in 14 children with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (five with d...
متن کاملBright Start: Description and main outcomes from a group-randomized obesity prevention trial in American Indian children
The aim of the Bright Start study was to develop and test the effectiveness of a school environment intervention, supplemented with family involvement, to reduce excessive weight gain by increasing physical activity and healthy eating practices among kindergarten and first-grade American Indian children. Bright Start was a group-randomized, school-based trial involving 454 children attending 14...
متن کاملSpatial soliton pairs in an unbiased photovoltaic-photorefractive crystal circuit
: Optical separate spatial dark and bright soliton pairs in steady-state case in one dimension, for a series circuit consisting of two-photon photorefractive (PR) crystal are investigated. Each crystal can be supported the spatial soliton, and at least one must be photovoltaic. The two solitons are known collectively as separate spatial soliton pairs with dark–dark, bright–dark and bright–brigh...
